Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
I wonder if the final line in this trailer – Paul Rudd saying “Is it too late to change the name?” – is based on a conversation had between studio executives. Ant-Man is hardly an A-list superhero for Marvel, and with Edgar Wright departing from the project, it kinda seems like the studio doesn’t know what to do with this movie. The trailer is a bit of a mess; lots of dramatic music and action, with barely any comedy. Let me give you a tip, Marvel: if you’re making a movie about a guy who shrinks down to a tiny size and rides ants, you should probably focus on the funny stuff. Anyway, I wish I could say I was more stoked for Ant-Man, but this trailer isn’t doing much for me. Could this be Marvel’s first big dud since The Incredible Hulk?
Ant-Man comes out July 17, 2015.
