The new Daredevil series that’s being brought to us by Marvel and Netflix should be a perfect storm of entertainment. I’ve always seen a lot of potential in the character of Daredevil, being this street-level vigilante without a suit of robot armour or a magic hammer, beating up back alley goons while the more powerful superheroes take on intergalactic menaces. Even though the Ben Affleck movie was pretty bad, it showed me that the character is viable, but it squandered the opportunity to make him great. So here’s a trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil presented by Netflix and…I’ll admit, I’m a little underwhelmed. The casting’s good – Vincent D’Onofrio looks a hell of a lot like the Kingpin – but the style just feels like another Arrow clone to me. Still, as with just about every superhero show, I’m willing to give it a chance. No live-action superhero show has really impressed me since the first season of Heroes, so hey, maybe this one will finally buck the trend.
Daredevil will be released on Netflix on April 10.
