Just in time for the release of Age of Ultron, the fine folks at CinemaSins have put together this video detailing why the first Avengers and the infamous 1987 live-action screen version of Masters of the Universe are essentially the same movie. And holy cow, they actually make some pretty valid comparisons that I never picked up on before. I found it particularly eye-opening that both movies feature a scene where the villain (Loki and Skeletor) yells “KNEEL!” at their subjects while carrying a giant scepter and wearing a goofy gold headpiece with horns on it. I guess Joss Whedon gets inspiration from the strangest places, but thankfully, he decided not to provide us with a Marvel Universe equivalent of Gwildor.
