This past weekend finally saw the long-awaited release of Eli Roth’s cannibal flick, The Green Inferno, the first feature film he directed since Hostel: Part II. Earlier this year, the student thesis short film that Roth directed while attending New York University during the 1990s surfaced online. It was titled Restaurant Dogs and not surprisingly, it was a loving homage to a famous film from his future friend/collaborator, Quentin Tarantino. Yes, the short is essentially a parody of Reservoir Dogs with fast food characters like Ronald McDonald and Grimace. Apparently, Roth’s film professors didn’t know what to make of this and almost prevented him from graduating.
