To celebrate Halloween, I thought I’d dig up some early footage of a famous horror movie actor and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that two of cinema’s biggest icons, Freddy Krueger and the Terminator, once shared the screen together! In 1976, a young Robert Englund acted in a comedy-drama called Stay Hungry, which was a crucial turning point in the acting career of a rather prominent bodybuilder named Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unlike his infamous film debut, Hercules in New York, Arnold’s voice was not dubbed over here, as his thick Austin accent was no longer impossible to decipher. Even though playing the role of a bodybuilder obviously wasn’t much of a stretch for him at the time, Arnold’s role in Stay Hungry won him a Golden Globe Award for “New Star of the Year”. Mr. Schwarzenegger and Mr. Englund actually wound sharing some screen time in this film, and to make things even better, they also got to do a scene alongside Jeff Bridges! There’s almost too much awesomeness for this scene to handle.
