Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.
Oooooh boy. Guys, this looks really bad. I wasn’t at all a fan of Tim Burton’s original interpretation of Alice in Wonderland – it was just too many Burton tropes shoved into one movie, and played more like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Tim Burton than the Beetlejuice, Batman, Ed Wood Tim Burton that I love so dearly. Too much Johnny Depp, too much Helena Bonham-Carter, and this whole stupid, hackneyed prophecy storylines. Boring! But of course, it made a bazillion dollars, so we’re getting a sequel, and without much in the way of source material, this one looks even more ridiculous than the last one. Man, I’m sick of these gritty, live-action interpretations of properties that were already done so well as animated films. Snoooooore.
Alice Through the Looking Glass comes out May 27, 2016.
