Wow, talk about a very inauspicious debut for an iconic movie star! At the age of four, Natalie Wood made her first screen appearance in a 1943 film called Happy Land, a ten-second role which involved her dropping an ice cream cone on the sidewalk. However, you’d never know it was Natalie, as the majority of the part consists of a close-up of her legs, followed by a long shot where you can barely see her face. In spite of this uneventful debut, Wood still seemed to make an impression on the film’s director, who eventually helped her get another screen test which jumpstarted her career.
