the mike was born on this day in 1982 in Ottawa, Ontario. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Aylmer, Quebec. In the summer of his 17th birthday, he and his family moved to Orangeville, Ontario, where he currently lives with his wife. The picture above is a photo of Gill and myself. It was taken at one of my family reunions for the benefit of my Aunt Ricky, who was thoroughly convinced that Gill and I were dating.

I have officially completed an entire year of Celebrity Birthdays. I didn’t expect to make it a full year, but I stuck with it until the end, and now here we are. Unfortunately, I will regrettably be unable to continue with my daily posts. I have just recently become a first-time father, and simply do not have the time necessary to dedicate to posting something on a daily basis. I do, however, plan on writing an occasional post, so keep an eye out!

Having said that, I apologize to all of you if there were any celebrities throughout the past year who you did not like or appreciate. But let’s face it: when you have to choose someone every single day of the year, some days will be far better than others.

To my fellow Back Rowers, thank you for your hard work, and I look forward to continue reading all of your articles and posts!

This is the mike, signing off.

Woody Harrelson became a household name way back in 1985, when he joined the cast of “Cheers”. After that, he did a number of films, including White Men Can’t Jump, Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers, Kingpin, The People Vs. Larry Flint, and The Thin Red Line. More recently, he can be seen in A Scanner Darkly, No Country For Old Men, Transsiberian, Seven Pounds, Defendor, 2012, and starring in the breakout comedy of 2009: Zombieland. Look for him in the upcoming Zombieland 2, coming in 2013.

John Leguizamo is an actor who has really made a name for himself over the years doing a wide variety of work. From early roles in Super Mario Bros. (as Luigi), Executive Decision, The Fan, To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar, Romeo + Juliet and Spawn to more recent roles in the Ice Age series, Land of the Dead, a 12-episode stint on “ER”, The Happening, Vanishing on 7th Street, and The Lincoln Lawyer, John Leguizamo has shown us time and time again that there is almost nothing he can’t do. Personally, I think he was absolutely brilliant in Moulin Rouge!

Robin Williams is known all over the world as being a brilliant comic, whether it is from films like Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, and The Birdcage, or simply from his stand-up comedy. But he has also more than proven his abilities as a serious actor, too, with roles in Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, What Dreams May Come, and Insomnia. I always loved him in Hook and Bicentennial Man. And of course, how could I not mention the amazing work he did as the voice of Genie in Aladdin?

Sandra Oh was born in Nepean, Ontario in 1971. She is best known to current audiences as Christina Yang in “Grey’s Anatomy”, but has also done a number of films, including Last Night, The Red Violin, Guinevere, Waking the Dead, The Princess Diaries, Full Frontal, Sideways, Hard Candy, The Night Listener, Blindness, and Defendor. What I find appealing about her many performances is her ability to go from heart-wrenchingly sad to childishly happy with nothing but a slight movement of her eyes.

Anthony Edwards is known to television fans for his 8-season (out of 15) run on “ER”. Everyone who was a fan of the show came to know and love his Dr. Mark Greene, and one of the all-time most popular episodes involved his departure from the show. Before his fame as a TV doc, however, Anthony Edwards had a role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, followed by a starring role in Revenge of the Nerds (parts I and II). He co-starred alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun, and can also be seen in Pet Semetary II, “Northern Exposure”, and Zodiac.

Hunter S. Thompson was an American journalist and author whose best known works include Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hell’s Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, and Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, 1972. Besides being known as an author and journalist, Thompson was also renowned (some might say infamous) for his unrepentent drug use and love of alcohol, his adoration of firearms and explosions, and his complete disrespect for authority figures – most famously Richard Nixon. He holds the distinction of having been played by both Johnny Depp and Bill Murray, being immortalized as a caricature in Gary Trudeau’s comic strip Doonesbury (which Thompson hated, and is quoted as saying that if he ever met Trudeau, he would set him on fire), and having his cremated remains fired out of a 153-foot cannon of his own design. Thompson is a cultural icon, and his legacy will never die.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.

David Hasselhoff became a household name playing Michael Knight in “Knight Rider”. He, then, went on to achieve huge fame playing Mitch Buchannon on “Baywatch” and the spin-off, “Baywatch Nights” (appearing in 265 episodes between the two shows). He has appeared in a handful of films, like Click, Anaconda III, Dancing Ninja, and the upcoming Piranha 3D: The Sequel. And I am sure at some point, someone on The Back Row will post a video from Mr. Hasselhoff’s music career, so look forward to that!

Corey Feldman hit the big time in the 1980s, appearing in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Gremlins, and then the huge milestone in his career, The Goonies. He went on to co-star in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, The ‘burbs, and providing the voice of Donatello in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (parts 1 and 3). These days, he can be seen in bad direct-to-video films like My Life as a Troll, Serial Killing 4 Dummys, Lost Boys: The Tribe, Lost Boys: The Thirst, Terror Inside, and in Katy Perry’s music video for Last Friday Night.

Adam Savage is one of the hosts of “Mythbusters”. That, along with his career doing visual effects for some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters, easily gives him the title of Best Job Ever!
