I’m a big fan of the series Peaky Blinders, which deals with the Shelby crime family trying to make a name for themselves.  The third season is dropping soon, and from the trailer above, does it ever look like a doozy. It looks like the Shelbys have moved right on up in the world, and find a glass ceiling with England’s aristocracy. Oh, and there’s gonna be blood, fighting, and Tom Hardy. Sign me up.

Peaky Blinders’ third season premieres on Netflix this month.

I feel you, Cookie Monster /blog/2016/03/19/i-feel-you-cookie-monster/ Sat, 19 Mar 2016 16:00:02 +0000 /?p=53511 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCbWyYr82BM

I have been where Cookie Monster is before, and I understand his pain and suffering. Waiting for freshly baked cookies is an exercise in patience.

Last Link of the Day – Sound and Vision /blog/2016/01/14/last-link-of-the-day-sound-and-vision/ Thu, 14 Jan 2016 22:00:32 +0000 /?p=52663

While no one can replace Bowie, Beck sure as hell does an excellent job. This is my favourite Bowie track, reimagined by my favourite modern artist.

“You’re not alone.” – David Bowie

David Bowie as Nikola Tesla /blog/2016/01/14/david-bowie-as-nikola-tesla/ Thu, 14 Jan 2016 20:00:36 +0000 /?p=52673 Continue reading ]]> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF76qlwWM8s

While I’ve been posting a great deal of Bowie’s music today, we certainly can’t forget him film work – from The Labyrinth, to The Man Who Fell To Earth, to his cameo in Zoolander, he always has a presence on screen.

Christopher Nolan made the best decision of his film career when he decided to cast Bowie as the eccentric and brilliant inventor, Nikola Tesla, in his film The Prestige. I can’t think of a better entrance than the one Bowie has at the start of this clip.

David Bowie – Starman /blog/2016/01/14/david-bowie-starman/ Thu, 14 Jan 2016 18:00:13 +0000 /?p=52666

As far as I’m concerned, Bowie didn’t die – he just went home to the stars. And they’re all shining a little brighter with him back home.

As Gill mentioned earlier this week, him and I are still kind of reeling from the death of glam rock legend, David Bowie. He was a huge influence for so many people, and I’m still having a hard time dealing with the fact that he’s gone.

Here’s one of my favourite clips of him, bantering with his band before launching into Heroes.

You know, I never knew I wanted to listen to Stephen Tobolowsky give a deep analysis of Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda music video…but boy, am I ever glad that he did.

Well, it looks like Clive Owen’s Dr. Thackery is up and about the Knickerbocker Hospital again for another season of Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick. Last season was a beautiful meld of incredible acting, beautiful cinematography, and an amazing soundtrack. I hope season 2 delivers just as much – and from the trailer above, I can assume it will.

The second season of The Knick premieres on October 16th.

With Hannibal sadly behind us now, I was clicking through various articles and stumbled across Matthew Morettini’s rather clever cut of a meeting between Hannibal and Will Graham, as displayed through the ages. The dialogue is almost verbatim from Thomas Harris’ novels, and makes my skin crawl.

I’m Walter Blunt, Right Here, Right Now /blog/2015/08/12/im-walter-blunt-right-here-right-now/ Wed, 12 Aug 2015 05:00:50 +0000 /?p=51202 Continue reading ]]> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLBPSSVVOe4

Well, this is something I never knew I wanted. Blunt Talk is an upcoming sitcom about Walter Blunt, the anchorman of a British nightly news show that moves to Los Angeles. Blunt, with his erratic and debaucherous behaviour, will certainly make the transition a little bumpy.

I am super excited to see Patrick Stewart pull out some comedy chops for this, and think it’s a nice turn of character for him.

Blunt Talk premieres on August 22, 2015, on Starz Network.
