We’ve featured Tobey Maguire in our “Before They Were Stars” articles before, so it should be apparent that he’s been acting since a very young age. In fact, Maguire dropped out of high school to pursue his career in acting, and his first film appearance was in the 1989 Nintendo commercial disguised as a movie The Wizard. Around this time he also appeared in television commercials and on television shows such as Walker, Texas Ranger, Roseanne, and Tracey Takes On. It was in the late 90s that Maguire began to rise to prominence with roles in films such as The Ice Storm, Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules, and Wonder Boys. In 2002, he landed the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man and its sequels, which immediately shot him to stardom. Since the Spider-Man movies, Maguire has appeared in films such as Tropic Thunder, Brothers, and The Great Gatsby. He turns 38 today.
