I was skeptical at first about this remake of Pete’s Dragon, and can you blame me? It’s not the same story as the Disney original, it’s not a musical, the dragon isn’t bumbly or the same size as before…really, this film is only related to Pete’s Dragon by the title and the fact that there’s a boy named Pete with a pet dragon named Elliot. But damn, this trailer is pretty good. Much better than I expected, anyway, and it even gave me the warm and fuzzies in that heartwarming boy-and-his-dog kind of way. The dragon may look a little silly, but things seem lighthearted and epic, even if the story is something of a cliche. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this will be a decent Disney remake for a change.
